The Front Porch

Our hope is to send this newsletter out as a means of keeping in touch with old friends and making new ones.  We'll share things we have found that help us to make home life simpler and sweeter, more peaceful and more prosperous!  We're working on a website so that we'll have a place to store all of the things we share in the newsletters (think of the upcoming website as the attic of the house).  We also love having company.  We'll let you know about get-togethers we're having (live and in person ones) - maybe you can join us some time.

Our plan is to send out the "Welcome Home!" newsletter monthly.  We will try to include helpful information for any and every area of our homes and lives.  We have titled the different topics to correspond with a room of our house - we think you'll catch on after you read a few!  Each month we'll choose a couple of rooms to share things from.
The Front Porch June 2008
We hope you'll find this to be a comfortable place to share all things having to do with home, heart, health and happiness!  Why don't you come on over now and we'll show you around the place?

The Front Porch is where our visits usually start.  Have a seat on the porch swing - this is where we say "Hey" and catch up on current news of interest.

Come on in!  We tend to always gather in The Kitchen.  In there we share recipes and ideas for what we're fix'n to cook or what is fresh out of the oven.  We like it when you jump in and help and especially when you share something you just cooked up!  Eventually we'll put them all together in a friends and family Cook Book resource at the website.

When we're busy in the kitchen the conversation usually finds it's way to cleaning issues.  We are always looking for ways we can do household chores quickly, easily and cheaply.   To find out the dirt on all things clean and green just look in the The Laundry Room!

If we're in the literary mood we might go into the The Library.  We may talk about curriculums with high marks (for our homeschooled friends) or recommend great read-alouds for the whole family.  We'd also love to hear what you've enjoyed reading lately.

We may periodically venture into The Home Office where we'll talk about home finance, networking ideas or helpful links to connect with.

Enough work!  Let's settle into The Living Room.  Have a seat around the fire place, the heart(h) of our home.  Here we get out the instruments and play some music or play a game and laugh a little.  We often spread out the "blueprint" for our house - the Word of God. The Bible tells us that, through Jesus Christ, God has given us everything we need for life and godliness.  We'll search the Word to find the keys for every room of our house and every part of our lives.

We may occasionally share some "decorating tips" for The Master Bedroom (like marriage helps; date night ideas, etc.) or The Kids' Room (parenting issues or just fun and games for the kids!).

When it's nice out, we like to go Outside and work in the yard a little or play games or just lay on the hammock under the shade trees.  We might even dig up a gardening tip out there.  If you have harvested any helpful horticultural ideas - share them with us!

Sometimes we might take you Down the Road to see the animals at the farm (there's new puppies, a newborn foal and another due soon!) or we might go around town and show you some fun place we've been on a "Family night" outing.

Bring the whole family and hang out with us a while.  Make yourselves at home.  You can stop by for a quick visit or settle in for a while but when you do have to leave be sure to take something home with you and don't be a stranger - y'all come back soon!
